Once again, the trip to "Jack-town" was fruitful...
Once again, the trip to Jack-town was fruitful. Having stopped in on my monthly visit, I dropped some items off there with Dale and Jay including a large lot of Volume I Brave and the Bold (Fun Stuff!). I've got a mindset of the types of things I'll be looking to bring up to Jackson once a month, and I'll give a synopsis and update below. Keep in mind, most of this stuff will be silverand bronze age books unless I've made a special effort for someone who made a partiuloar request of me. If you guys are looking for anything that fits into the stuff below, check back with Dale and Jay, or mail me here directly and we'll see what turns up.
Green Lantern
I'm working on getting some early volume II issues right now. We're talking anything here as there is a particular interest in these books right now, and I don't blame you. They are nice books! I am also putting an effort into finding reasonably priced books, but also nice books ingeneral. Keep the faith as it may be slow coming as these books are pretty hot right now on the open market.
The Brave and the Bold (Vol. I)
I just picked up somewhere in the neighborhood of 70-80 issues between #'s 100 and 200. I dropped off about twenty of them with Dale and Jay this past Saturday. I have 43 coming in the mail within the next week and these look to be very nice books (all VF and NM!). Some of these will no doubt be making it to Jackson on my next trip.
World's Finest
These issues have become a bit more difficult than they were last month, but I'm still keeping my eyes out for these books. I generally try to pick up multiples in the 100's, but if you have a particular request, let me know and I can hunt one for you (keep it reasonable though). Unfortunately, I did not have any of these issues when I came to Jackson this last time.
Adventure Comics
As I've moved into the 300's in my personal collection, that will no doubt leave extras as I like to pick these up in lots if possible. I'll be snagging pockets of this title in the future between 300 and 503, and will likely have doubles. If you like this title like I do, then keep an eye on this stuff as I will likely have one or two with me each time. As always, if there's something you are looking for here, let me know, but keep it reasonable. There aren't too many cheap #46's hanging around!
Superman / Action Comics
Early books in this title are starting to creep into the market ever since they auctioned Action Comics #1 and had news articles about it. I'll be picking up some 100 and 200's when I can, and will likely try to have a couple-three on hand when I make the trip each month. I dropped off Superman #189 with Dale and Jay this past weekend. That books has some really nice colors! Keep an eye out for more!
Batman / Detective Comics
It's more likely that I can pick up silver age issues of Batman and Bronze Age Detective Comics. If that's the way the trend falls, then so be it. I don't personally collect either title, but the market is such that sometimes I cannot pass up a deal. That means I pass the savings on to you and Dale and Jay! Furthermore, if there's something you are looking for just shoot me a message here or catch me on my monthly trip to Jackson. The batman stuff Ibrought up this past time was in the Brave and the Bold stuff.
All Star Comics
Trying to get my hands on a copy or two of #58 - first appearance of Power Girl. There seems to be a few fans of this character, and her stock is rising. Check back with me on this stuff.
Justice League of America
Will start picking up a few copies here and there of this classic silver age title as it seems to have something for everyone. These books seem pretty resonable once you get into the 20's and up. Stay tuned for issues accompanying me to Jackson in the future. The colors in these books are also very nice as I have discovered -- much nicer than than the Batman and Detective Comics books in my humble opinion.
Showcase
These books have continued to grace my trips to Jackson, and will likely continue as I replace copies in my collection. These should be pretty reasonable, and I w ouldn't expect VF's or NM's. They should be collectible nonetheless. Dale tells me that there is some interest in this title, and I don't blame you guys for wanting some of these. This means I will put a sppecial effort into finding some of these for you guys as well as myself. This title has some really great appearances, and continues to be a good investment.
Amazing Spider-Man
There's a lot of competition for good issues of these books in the low numbers, though there are some single numbers and small runs in the upper numbered issues that are worth snangging as well. For the moment, I'll try to snag some low numbers for you guys along with issues in the whole black uniform-venom appearance run (252-300). If there are others, just let me know and I'll keep an eye out for them.
Teen Titans
These early books had some really great colors and covers, and since I've started to pick these up for myself, I'm going to have duplicates. These books are also very reasonably priced right now, and therefore the savings can be passed on to you. Also, this is a great piece of history and a chance to discover characters that are no longer around or otheriwse on "hiatus" (i.e. Wonder Girl).
Well, must get back to work. I DO have a job otherwise, so I will see you guys next month when I make my trip to Jackson to vist Dale and Jay. Remember to keep an eye out as Santa will no doubt be dumping a few gooodies down the chimney at Heroes & Dreams. Besides, If you can't trust Yomama, who can you trust?
Enjoy.Posted Mon, Mar 30, 2009 8:13 am Pacific
